SOME WONDERFUL CONTEMPORARY ARTISTS WHO TAKE CHANCES & VARIOUS "STUFF"

Hello Everyone,
I apologize for not having blogged in such a long time! Like all of you, time for me just has a way of passing TOO QUICKLY! :-(
Besides being busy over the holidays with the regular "stuff", I have had the pleasure of having various STUDENTS/ARTISTS @ my studio in Mission Bch. CA. for what we call "ART & LUNCH @ THE BEACH" with a beautiful & yummy lunch prepared by the famous CHEF HANS, (my darling Husband) :-) This is an extremely fun & successful ART workshop that I have been having in the summers & Xmas break when my MIXED MEDIA class @ The Athenaeum, La Jolla is not in session.  There is only space left for the workshop on Jan.13th @ my studio & some spots left for my new class beginning @ The Athenaeum on Jan. 20th. You can message or e-mail me for my studio & call the Athenaeum if you are interested. 858 454 5872.
Below is the description for my La Jolla Athenaeum class & also some of the wonderful MASTERS that I always introduce in my classes.
JOY & HEALTH TO ALL OF YOU!

EXPLORING MULTIMEDIA & CREATIVITY - RIVIAN BÜTIKOFER

8. Exploring Multimedia & Creativity - Rivian Bütikofer

For many of us who practice "ART' of some sort, one of the major challenges is "What do I paint"? Or, “What new materials can I find to “INSPIRE ME’ to make ART that will be relevant to me?” The focus of this eight-week studio class will be just that: learning how & where to look for ideas, resources & inspiration to help us get going on MAKING ART. You will have the opportunity to get in touch with your unique way of CREATING ART, whether through traditional painting (abstract or representational) &/or mixed media. Some of the many media & processes with which you will have a chance to experiment besides painting include plaster, water-soluble pastels, pumice, gold & silver leaf, photo transfer, monotype, various gels & glues, and collage using many diverse materials.

Through DVDs, online sources and books we will look at renowned artists—traditional & contemporary—to see what we can learn from them, how we can benefit from their experience in our own work and relate it to the time in which we live. Where did they find their subject matter; what inspires artists working today? Of course current society is drastically different from earlier centuries, you can take advantage of this difference by searching for inspiration in personal experience; photos (yours & others); mass media; films; popular culture, such as comics, popular music, virtual worlds, theater, dance & TV. Each student will be provided personal access to images of artists whose work is cutting edge, artists who are not afraid to take chances, to invent NEW WAYS of making ART! With demonstration you will be exposed to new techniques & materials that will excite & inspire you!
