For many of us who practice "ART' of some sort, one of the major challenges is "What do I paint"? "What do I make that will be relevant to me"? The focus of this four day studio workshop will be just that: learning how & where to look for ideas, resources & inspiration to help us get going on MAKING ART. The focus will be for you to get in touch with your unique way of CREATING ART, whether through traditional painting (abstract or representational) &/or mixed media. Through DVDs, online sources, and books we will look at renown artists-traditional & contemporary to see what we can learn from them, how we can benefit from their experience in our own work and relate it to the time in which we live. Where did they find their subject matter, what inspires artists working today? Of course current society is drastically different from earlier centuries, you can take advantage of this difference by searching for inspiration in personal experience, photos, ( yours & others), mass media, films, popular culture, such as comics, popular music, virtual worlds, theater, dance & T.V. Each student will be provided personal access to images of renowned artists whose work we will study along with information on techniques & materials that you will find very useful.
