"ART FROM ANYTHING"
Rivian, The Rose Madonna, Mixed Media |
Many artists since the 20th century have been using unusual materials, some of whom were Claes Oldenburg , Jean-Michel Basquiat, Robt. Rauschenberg , Anselm Kiefer, Mikalene Thomas & many others. In this 4 day studio workshop we will look at these artists & many others to see what we can learn from them & how we can benefit from their experience in our own work. The focus will be for you to get in touch with your unique way of CREATING ART. You will also be provided with your own collection of many Modern & Contemporary Masters to access on your personal computer, & a special packet containing useful information & ideas. We will work with with *diverse media including Mylar, gold & silver leaf, glass, plaster, wood, photo transfer, spray paint, (almost anything that can be attached to surfaces, traditional or not). Some suggestions for you to consider are canvas, wood, misc. papers, cardboard , windows, or doors, etc. *The teacher will supply a minimal amount of various materials, (see above), with which you can experiment. *PLEASE NOTE that it will be necessary, however, to bring in your OWN SURFACES on which to work, such as listed above & your materials for painting & photo transfer; also, if you wish to use more than the MINIMUM of any materials such as gold leaf, for example. A detailed list will be sent after registration.
Appropriate for all levels of adventurous students! ( It might be fun to take this workshop with your teen or "Grand-teen). If you have questions, feel free to e-mail Rivian at 4choux@sbcglobal.net or via http://www.rivianbutikofer.com, or http://rivian-shareart.blogspot.com.
